About the League of Northern Democrats
A group of patriots from all parts of Northern Nigeria 🇳🇬 united to influence country’s politics and power dynamics for regional and national development.
Our Charter
The key thrusts and potential impacts of the LND are as follows:

Urgency of Addressing Northern Nigeria’s Challenges

The entire concept of the LND is an emphasis on the severe and multifaceted challenges Northern Nigeria faces – ranging from poverty, illiteracy, insecurity, mutual distrust, to political irrelevance. The dire situation necessitates immediate and coordinated efforts to avert societal collapse.

Broad-Based Elite Mobilization

The movement aims to bring together a diverse coalition of Northern elites, including former governors, senators, business leaders, academics and religious leaders. This broad-based mobilization is intended to create a formidable political force capable of significantly influencing Nigeria’s political landscape and ensuring the North’s interests are well-represented.

Strategic Vision and Action Plan

The LND outlines a clear strategic vision and action plan, including the establishment of working committees, the organization of a Northern Nigerian Political Summit and the development of a comprehensive mobilization and outreach strategy. These initiatives are designed to build momentum and translate the movement’s vision into actionable and impactful outcomes.

Commitment to Unity, Accountability, and Continuous Improvement

There is a strong emphasis on unity, collaboration and the establishment of accountability mechanisms. The LND aims to foster a sense of community and solidarity among Northern elites, ensuring that their efforts are coordinated and effective.

Political Relevance and Unity

The LND has the potential to significantly enhance Northern Nigeria’s political relevance by uniting the region’s elites under a common agenda. This unity would enable the North to play a more influential role in national politics and ensure its strategic interests are protected.

Economic and Social Development:

By leveraging the expertise and resources of its members, the LND can drive initiatives aimed at addressing the region’s economic challenges, such as poverty and unemployment, while also promoting social cohesion and stability.

Security and Stability

The LND’s focus on security and social cohesion could help address the root causes of insecurity in the region, contributing to a more stable and prosperous Northern Nigeria.
